British far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos has been detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and faces removal from the United States, according to agency records and the Department of Homeland Security.
Yiannopoulos, 41, was arrested on Thursday at Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport. The Department of Homeland Security described him as an “illegal alien from the United Kingdom” and said he was subject to a final order of removal.

According to DHS, Yiannopoulos legally entered the US through New York City in May 2019 but overstayed his permitted period of stay.
DHS said an immigration judge issued a final order of removal on July 22 after Yiannopoulos failed to appear for an immigration hearing. He will remain in ICE custody pending his removal, the department said.
According to Reuters, Yiannopoulos was not immediately available for comment, and it was unclear whether he had obtained legal representation.
Celebrity news website TMZ, which first reported his arrest, said Yiannopoulos was in New Orleans ahead of a scheduled performance by the musician formerly known as Kanye West.
The detention marks an ironic turn for Yiannopoulos, who has previously advocated stricter immigration enforcement. In a June 2025 post on X, he called for ICE checkpoints at supermarkets, gas stations and other public locations, with immediate deportation of people unable to prove they were legally in the US.
Yiannopoulos is known for far-right commentary, including anti-Islamic rhetoric. He has also worked with white nationalist Nick Fuentes and previously worked for right-wing outlet Breitbart News, where he gained prominence during the Gamergate anti-feminist harassment campaign.
