A British rapper faces a retrial over allegations he raped a 20-year-old Australian fan after a jury failed to reach a majority verdict.

Yung Filly – whose real name is Andres Barrientos – was convicted of assaulting the young woman who alleged she was bitten, choked, raped and hit by the performer inside a Perth Hotel room after a gig in 2024.

A jury found Barrientos not guilty of three rape charges stemming from the allegations but could not agree on three other rape charges.

He was found guilty of two counts of assault – relating to biting the woman’s face, neck and breasts and leaving an open wound on her.

He was also found not guilty of one count each of assault and choking.

State prosecutors confirmed they would proceed to a retrial for the three hung jury charges involving three counts of sexual penetration without consent.

Yung Filly has been in Western Australia since he was extradited from Brisbane to Perth and charged with the offences in October 2024.

He was in the country on his first Australian tour.

The matter will return to the District Court of Western Australia to vary his bail conditions on August 27.

A mention to list the matter for retrial will be heard in the same court on September 25.

Sentencing for the assault charges will take place after the retrial.
