Hyderabad: BRS Working President KT Rama Rao (KTR) on Thursday, October 29, demanded that the state government pay Rs 60,000 per acre under the Rythu Bharosa investment support scheme to farmers to provide relief to them during the present drought conditions in the state.

He alleged that the government did not pay Rs 45,000 comprising three instalments of Rs 15,000 per acre under the scheme.

About Rs 45,000 should be added to the next instalment of Rs 15,000 to be paid during the Rabi season, he said.

He further alleged that drought conditions in the state are not natural but caused by the Congress government, as it let the water go waste from projects.

There is no severe drought in neighbouring Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh as they have taken effective steps for the optimum utilisation of available water.

He appreciated Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu for storing water in reservoirs.

Alleging that the Congress government has taken up Musi river rejuvenation with Rs 1.50 lakh crore, he said the Musi project should be deferred and the Rs 1.50 lakh crore spent on farmers’ welfare.

He said the Congress government has not implemented its promise of financial assistance of Rs 1,000 per month to farm workers since it assumed office in December 2023.

The government should now pay Rs 36,000 to the workers, he said.

“Why should the government pay? Because this drought has been triggered by the Congress government,” he said.

The Musi rejuvenation project is an “illegal project” as it is being taken up without a Detailed Project Report (DPR), he claimed.

Describing the ‘Invest Telangana Global Summit’ to be organised by the state government in December this year as a ‘Goebbels Summit.’

KTR demanded a white paper on the MoUs signed by the government, the investments realised and jobs created since the government assumed office.

Claiming that a ruling Congress MLA alleged a “scam in radial road” tenders, he said “it is openly discussed that a 30 per cent commission government is in power in the state”.

“Everybody knows that the 30 per cent commission goes into the pockets of Rahul Gandhi. Revanth Reddy is Rahul Gandhi’s ATM card. He will get money whenever he swipes the card,” he said.

Hitting back at KTR, ruling Congress MLA Aadi Srinivas said KTR is speaking without applying his mind.

He says there is no DPR for the Musi rejuvenation project but also claims that Rs 1.50 lakh crore is being spent on it, Srinivas said.

The government approved the first phase of Musi Riverfront development for 21 kms with Rs 7,345 crore, he said.

The Congress MLA further said the government is making efforts to tap Godavari river water.
