Rumer Willis, the daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, has accused her former partner Derek Richard Thomas of domestic violence and emotional abuse as the two fight for custody of their daughter, Louetta.
According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, Willis has requested primary physical custody and asked the court to deny Thomas overnight visits with their daughter until a formal custody evaluation is completed. The filings include allegations of “incessant domestic violence”, coercive control and emotional abuse during their relationship, which ended in 2024.

Willis further claimed that the environment created during the relationship left their daughter traumatised and alleged that several incidents took place in front of the child or while they were travelling together in a car.
What Allegations Has Rumer Made Against Derek Richard?
In the court filings, Willis alleged that Thomas subjected her to prolonged verbal attacks that often lasted for hours and occurred almost daily. She said she constantly felt she was “walking on eggshells” and accused him of attempting to isolate her from friends and family.
Willis also alleged that Thomas’ behaviour became increasingly erratic after Louetta’s birth in April 2023. She claimed he frequently accused her of lying and believed she and her mother, Demi Moore, were trying to take the child away from him.
The filings additionally raised concerns about Thomas’ alleged marijuana use. Willis described one incident in which she claimed he was too impaired to properly supervise Louetta.
What Has Derek Richard Thomas Said In Response?
Thomas has denied all allegations made against him. In his response, he said the relationship was unhealthy but rejected claims of violence or coercive control.
“I have committed no acts of domestic violence in any form,” he stated in the filing, while also denying accusations related to his parenting and marijuana use.
Thomas further claimed that Louetta had never been harmed or neglected while in his care. His attorney described Willis’ allegations as “substantially inaccurate” and said Thomas only wants to remain a committed and caring father to his daughter.
How Is Demi Moore Connected To The Case?
Demi Moore has also filed a statement in support of her daughter. According to the documents, Moore alleged that Thomas behaved aggressively during Louetta’s birth and disrupted what should have been a happy moment for Willis.
Rumer Willis and Derek Richard Thomas went public with their relationship in 2022 and welcomed their daughter in April 2023. News of their split emerged in 2024, with Willis later confirming that they were coparenting after separating.
