A young actor from the South West will soon grace the red carpet at one of the biggest nights celebrating some of the best shows and stars in Australian television.
Making her debut at the 66th TV Week Logie Awards on Sunday will be 10-year-old Eloise Hart from Bunbury, who is nominated for the Graham Kennedy Award for most popular new talent.
Her Picton Primary School classmates gave her the star treatment by rolling out a red carpet as she left school on Thursday en route to Sydney.
Speaking to the Times, Eloise said she was “screaming” when she found out about the nomination and felt “happy” and “excited” to be heading to the awards ceremony.
Nominated for her roles in ABC TV series Goolagong and Mystery Road: Origin, a win for Eloise would make her the youngest person to receive the award.
Eloise said her acting career began with her first role as Anya in Mystery Road: Origin after her dad saw an audition flyer for the show on Facebook.
She then went on to act in Goolagong, where she portrayed a young version of tennis star Evonne Goolagong Cawley and later starred in the ABC film Wolfram.
Eloise said everyone being kind and sweet to her was one of her favourite things about being on set.
“It’s just fun because it’s my dream to act,” she said.
Now, she is getting ready for her upcoming red carpet appearance and is having her dream dress made by a custom designer in Perth for the special occasion.
“It’s in my favourite colour blue,” Eloise said.
“And it’s gonna have sparkles and flowers.”
With her parents nothing but proud of her achievements, Eloise’s dad Dale Hart said the nomination came as a surprise.
He said Eloise was getting the recognition she deserved because in a short amount of time she had made a big impression.
Eloise’s mum Tahlia Chesson said the whole experience had been surreal.
“You always see your kid kind of singing and dancing and doing little acting and stuff at home, which is normal with your siblings,” she said.
“Her father sees a flyer on Facebook and then she gets a job and then it’s another job …. it goes cool for a little bit and then everything comes out and then it really hits you.”
While Eloise aspires to keep acting and go to Hollywood, Ms Chesson said she reached her initial goal a lot sooner than expected.
“She’s always said, ‘ Oh you know what mum, I don’t think I’m gonna retire until I hit the red carpet’”, she said.
“But we just didn’t anticipate that it would happen so quickly.
“She’s had a taste for it and now she’s determined to keep going.”
Ms Chesson said the response from the community had been incredible, with people reaching out from across the country to share their support.
“Even people from New South Wales have been messaging me,” she said.
“It’s been incredible having mob from all over Australia reaching out.”

The Logies will be broadcast live and exclusively on Channel Seven and 7Plus on Sunday.
