Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little have announced the shock end to their drive radio show live on-air, after almost ten years of partnership on national radio.

Bickmore and Little made the announcement during the Carrie & Tommy show on Wednesday, with the expectation the pair’s show will finish at the end of 2026.

The announcement was also posted to the show’s Instagram account.

“After almost 10 years driving you home, Carrie & Tommy will be hanging up their headphones,” a statement said.

“Thank you to our wonderful listeners for everything.”

The pair began working together in 2017, during the 3pm-6pm timeslot.

During the live announcement, Bickmore said she had “loved doing every minute” of the show since beginning the partnership in 2017.

“It’s not every day you get to have a laugh and call it a job,” she said.

“You have brought us so much joy every day. The show has brought us so much joy in our lives.

“We’ve talked about things on this show that is real-life tough stuff, and we hope we’ve had some small impact on your life in some small way.”

Little said the announcement was “really sad” and he was “very grateful and lucky” to have worked on the show for almost a decade, while paying tribute to his co-host.

“We’ve had an amazing job to do. I honestly truly love this job,” he said.

“I will miss our beautiful callers, and the people we work with are the best. We have had the best team in radio.

“Bickers, thank you. Thank you to everyone listening. We’re going to be on to the end of the year and make the best radio we can.”

In an internal email to Southern Cross Austereo staff, sighted by The Nightly, the network’s Head of Broadcast Content Matthew O’Reilly paid tribute to the pair and their decade-long partnership.

“Since joining Hit in 2017, Carrie Bickmore and Tommy Little have built a loyal audience through their genuine friendship, big laughs and their own unique take on the ordinary,” he wrote.

O’Reilly said the network would spend the coming weeks celebrating the pair’s achievements before their final broadcast.

“Thank you to Carrie, Tommy, and everyone who worked on the show, pouring their energy, creativity, and passion into making it what it is today. We wish them the very best for what’s next.”

The Carrie and Tommy Show is broadcast across 50 of Southern Cross Austereo’s stations across Australia, including Melbourne’s Fox and 2Day FM in Sydney.

It is also broadcast to 94.5 in Perth, B105 in Brisbane, SAFM in Adelaide, and Hit 104.7 in Canberra.
