Australian model and influencer Casey James says her father’s condition has “deteriorated significantly” after he suffered a serious brain bleed following a fall in Thailand last month.

James’ father suffered an epileptic seizure, fell and fractured his skull in August and wasn’t found until two days after the incident, still unconscious in his hotel room.

The medical episode was caused by a brain bleed brought on by a previous brain injury he received following a motorcycle accident two years ago.

He has been in a coma for about 17 days in an intensive care unit in a Bangkok hospital and began to show some positive signs of waking up last Thursday.

Through her cousin Bridgette Pereira, James said that after everything her dad has been through, he had started to show signs of coming out of his coma for the first time.

But unfortunately, his health took a turn for the worse, suffering another seizure and he went on to develop pneumonia and a brain infection.

“His medical team was hopeful enough to remove his breathing tube, and for around 24 hours, we dared to believe that perhaps we were finally turning a corner,” she said.

“Sadly, last night, everything changed again.

“Dad suffered a seizure and was unable to breathe on his own. He has now developed pneumonia as well as a brain infection, and his condition has deteriorated significantly.

“He is back in a coma and is once again fighting for his life.”

James said her family is “still hoping and praying that he can pull through this” but that the reality of his medical journey “is far from over”.

“His ICU care continues to come at an enormous cost, and we are still working towards our goal of bringing him safely home to Australia when he is medically stable enough to make the journey.”

A GoFundMe page organised by Ms Pereira on August 23 has already raised more than $85,000 to help with medical expenses and ongoing care.

“To everyone who has donated, shared Dad’s story, sent messages, and prayed for him, thank you,” she continued.

“We cannot put into words how much your support has meant during this unimaginable time.”

James is the co-founder of makeup brand Copini Beauty and married her husband, Warren Ginsberg, on February 21.

She faces the tragic possibility of losing both her parents after her mother died from cancer less than two years ago.
