A pair of Fremantle fans have made grand final day even more memorable by getting married just outside the MCG.
Dockers supporters Matthew Abbott and Danni Bloomfield travelled from Karratha to Melbourne for today’s big dance but also decided to tie the knot just before heading inside for the Fremantle and Brisbane clash.
The couple were dressed for the wedding along with a touch of grand final spirit with Fremantle scarfs as well.
The original wedding date was set for next week, but the couple wanted their special day to coincide with Fremantle taking home the premiership.
“We decided to bring it forward a few days and celebrate with the best people on the planet,” Mr Abbott said.
After the celebration, the couple quickly turned their attention to the game, with Ms Bloom only wanting one more thing for the day.
“For Freo to bring home that cup,” Ms Bloom said.
Originally a West Coast supporter, Ms Bloom said her husband converted her to the Dockers over 15 years as a couple.
Mr Abbott said a win today would mean everything.
“It would be so amazing to see them just for so many years of being the underdogs and for them to get through to the grand final and arguably play one of the best teams … if they pull this off, it’s just going to be a fairytale,” he said.
