Megastar Chiranjeevi has condemned the alleged misuse of AI to create and circulate a digitally manipulated video involving Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor from their Devara: Part 1 song Chuttamalle.
Calling the creation of degrading AI-generated content targeting women “cruel, shameful and completely unacceptable”, the actor said he would take up the matter with key Telugu film industry bodies and push for a dedicated support mechanism for those targeted by such abuse.

Chiranjeevi also called for closer coordination between the film industry and cybercrime authorities to tackle the misuse of AI. In a post on X, he strongly condemned the creation and circulation of such videos, calling the practice “cruel, shameful and completely unacceptable.”
“I am deeply disturbed by the use of AI to create degrading and morphed videos of a woman. Such acts are cruel, shameful and completely unacceptable. I strongly condemn them. This is not an issue concerning just one individual or one film. Today, it has happened to someone else. Tomorrow, it could happen to you, me or anyone we know,” Chiranjeevi wrote.
He stressed that those who create, share or amplify such content should be held legally accountable. The actor also said the issue should not be dismissed as a joke or entertainment, and proposed a dedicated system to support victims and coordinate efforts to have such material removed.
“I will take this matter up with the Telugu Film Chamber, the Producers’ Council and our affiliated industry bodies, and recommend the formation of a dedicated committee and support cell,” he wrote. “Working closely with Cyber Crime authorities, this team should support those affected, coordinate efforts to remove such content and pursue legal action against those responsible.”
The controversy erupted after an AI-generated video featuring Janhvi Kapoor and Jr NTR began circulating on social media. The video digitally altered Janhvi’s appearance from the song Chuttamalle from Devara: Part 1. The content was subsequently taken down.
Chiranjeevi said the incident should serve as a warning to the wider film fraternity and urged the Telugu industry to come together to address the misuse of AI. He called on artists, technicians, associations, audiences and fans to play a role in combating such abuse.
The actor also appealed to the Central and State Governments to take stronger measures against the misuse of AI. He urged people not to watch, download, share or circulate such videos, even while attempting to condemn them, and instead report them to social media platforms and cybercrime authorities.
“Protecting human dignity is our collective responsibility. Let us stand together, speak up and act,” he added.
Jr NTR had earlier condemned the same incident, calling the use of AI to create the degrading video “disgusting, sick and shameless.” He stressed that using technology to disrespect a woman in such a manner was “shameful beyond words.”
Released in September 2024, Devara: Part 1 stars Jr NTR and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles. The film’s song Chuttamalle, composed by Anirudh Ravichander and sung by Shilpa Rao, went on to become one of its most popular tracks.
