Post Malone’s proposal was the “most special moment” of his new fiancée’s life.
The Sunflower singer – whose real name is Austin Post – gathered together close family and friends at his new ranch in Idaho on 17 August so he could pop the question to Christy Lee following an intimate dinner, and the stylist was thrilled with his thoughtful planning.
She told America’s Vogue magazine: “Austin first surprised me with a baby Highland cow, bunnies, and chickens.
“[The following evening,] he had planned the most beautiful intimate dinner at the ranch, with another surprise waiting for me – my best friends and parents were all there.”
As rain began to fall, Post took Christy to an arch of white flowers and greenery and got down on one knee, sparking huge celebrations.
She said: “There was something so special about being at our ranch, surrounded by the people we love most and all of our new little animals. The whole evening felt incredibly intimate and personal. It was the most special moment of my life.”
While Christy was surprised by the proposal, Post had been quizzing his 22-year-old partner for some time about her dream engagement ring.
She recalled: “A couple months before the proposal, Austin started casually slipping these very ‘hypothetical’ questions about rings into conversation, trying to figure out what I liked without giving himself away.
“One day, completely out of the blue, he asked me, ‘Pear, heart, or cushion?’ I told him I’d always thought there was something so chic about an oval.”
Another time, he asked if she’d prefer a ring with diamonds wrapped around the band or framing a central stone.
She said: “I told him I actually preferred the opposite – something very simple, with a delicate, thin gold band.”
The 31-year-old musician then asked if she felt a ring could be too big.
She laughed: “I jokingly told him I didn’t think so.”
The Better Now hitmaker took the feedback on board and presented Christy with a custom 20-plus-carat natural oval diamond ring on a thin gold band.
She said: “When I saw it, I was honestly speechless. He had somehow taken all of those little conversations and created exactly what I would have chosen for myself.
“Looking back, it’s incredibly sweet knowing how much thought he put into creating something that felt entirely my own. Austin worked closely with his jeweller Isaac to create it, and it feels incredibly special knowing how much thought went into every detail.”
