A faulty reclining chair has sparked a fierce out of control blaze that ripped through a family home in Perth’s western suburbs on Saturday night.
Seven fire crews were called to Dacelo Close in Churchlands at about 10.45pm Saturday where flames had taken hold of a rear dwelling of the suburban property.
Angry flames were seen surging through the home’s roof as thick clouds of smoke blanketed the sky above.
Crews from Daglish and Osborne Park contained the fire by 11.04pm.
The second dwelling — located at the front of the property — survived, but the rear dwelling was significantly damaged along with two cars, a DFES spokesperson said.
Residents managed to escape to safety and no injuries were reported.
The property is at the end of a cul-de-sac and packed tightly into a group of houses metres from Herdsman Lake.
