Anthropic has added another feature to Claude. Now, the AI can connect to your bank or credit card account, and get access to your statements. You can then ask Claude questions about your spending or finances. But there is a catch, Claude personal finance is read-only.
That is, Anthropic says, Claude cannot make any payments for you or transfer funds. The AI can simply access information and provide an analysis. “Claude gives you answers in everyday language, from your balances and transactions, and explains any term that’s new to you,” Anthropic said.

How does Claude personal finance work?
To use Claude personal finance, you need to connect your account to the AI via Plaid fintech platform. Once done, Claude can access certain bank details – bank name, account name, type, and last four digits, balances and credit limits, and up to two years of transactions. Anthropic says Claude does not ask for your banking passwords.
Then you can chat with Claude in the personal finance hub. You can ask the AI, “Where did my money go this month?” and Claude will combine spending across connected accounts and sort it into categories. It can also give you analysis on whether you can go on vacation based on your spending habits. Though Anthropic has clarified that the AI does not give any investment or financial advice.
You can also ask about loan rates and Claude can calculate the interest charged on any loan you may be planning to take. It can also create weekly spending charts, payment calendars and adjustable dashboards based on selected figures.
Anthropic says personal finance has no advertisements or sponsored recommendations. It also does not offer its own credit cards, loans or savings accounts. The company warns that Claude can make mistakes and recommends asking for the transactions behind calculations and verifying important figures with the bank. The feature is rolling out in beta in the US for Claude Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers.
Claude personal finance is similar to OpenAI’s ChatGPT finances, which was launched in May this year. However, some companies are giving more power to AI when it comes to making payments. Elon Musk’s Grok Bot and Meta’s Muse allow users to let AI complete approved payments, or buy things online. Though the two companies do mention that users remain responsible for all payments.
