She said India, once largely viewed as a consumer economy, is now emerging as a trusted manufacturing hub and a reliable global supply chain, attributing the transformation to the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and policy reforms introduced since 2014.
Gupta also highlighted India’s expanding network of free trade agreements, saying these have helped domestic businesses and industrialists gain greater access to international markets.
She said the country was now moving beyond conventional economic growth towards economic transformation driven by digital technology.
Citing the rapid expansion of India’s startup ecosystem, Gupta said the number of startups had increased from around 100 before 2014 to more than 2.5 lakh.
She also pointed to the growth of digital initiatives such as the Unified Payments Interface and Direct Benefit Transfer, saying technology had fundamentally transformed the country’s economic landscape.
The chief minister said Delhi would need to play a larger role in this growth story by strengthening its trade, business and economic ecosystem.
