Colin Farrell has hailed his sister Claudine Farrell as “the boss” after quietly working alongside her for decades.

The actor, 50, made the comment as he lifted the lid on their long-running creative partnership, saying she has spent decades doing “all the leg work” while he remains the public face of the projects they develop together.

Colin reflected on his relationship with Claudine while attending the premiere of the second season of Sugar at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, and also told People about working alongside his sibling for the past 25 years through their production company, Chapel Place Productions, as well as returning to the role of private investigator John Sugar.

Colin said: “Me and Claude have worked together now in various capacities for 25 years.”

He continued: “We established a company, Chapel Place (Productions), about 12 years ago. And she’s the boss there. I’m the face, as they say.”

Colin credited his sister with overseeing the work required to bring projects to the screen.

He said: “She does all the leg work.”

Colin added: “Her task is Sisyphean in trying to get things made, and we’re at various stages of development with various different projects that she’s been working on.”

Speaking about their relationship away from work, Colin said: “She’s just extraordinary.”

He continued: “She’s an extraordinary producer, and an even better sister and friend, of course.”

Reflecting on their lifelong bond, Colin said: “I’m spoiled rotten, having somebody that I go back with 50 years.”

He added: “We know each other, and it’s amazing to be as close to her as I am.”

Colin also described the trust between them.

He said: “There’s never any tension. We have each other’s backs. It’s really simple.”

The actor also discussed returning to the role of John Sugar, admitting he still experiences nerves before beginning any production despite his decades in the industry.

He said: “I’m always nervous going to work, regardless of the job, because you’ve no idea what you’re doing.”

He added: “Each job is unique.”

Colin continued: “I got to play a character that I felt fairly comfortable with in the first season.”

Describing the appeal of the detective, he said: “It’s such a lovely-hearted character.”

He added: “A man of uncommon kindness and empathy and yet also still very much somebody who can take care of himself.”

Speaking about the opportunity to revisit the role, Colin said: “I loved it. I would do this every year if I could.”

The second season of Sugar continues Colin’s recent run of acclaimed television work following The Penguin, which earned widespread recognition after expanding the character first introduced in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.

The actor, who recently appeared in HBO’s The Penguin as Oz Cobb following his acclaimed portrayal of the villain in The Batman, remains best known for films including In Bruges, The Banshees of Inisherin, Minority Report and The Lobster.
