India cricketer Prithvi Shaw and actor-influencer Akriti Agarwal have decided to give their relationship another chance, weeks after announcing that they had called off their engagement. Akriti confirmed their reconciliation in an Instagram statement on Monday, taking responsibility for her decision to end the engagement and acknowledging the influence of people close to her.

Prithvi Shaw shared the message on his Instagram story on Monday evening.

Titled ‘A personal clarification’, the statement said Akriti had allowed the opinions of others to shape her perception of Shaw and their relationship.

“When I called off our engagement, I let the opinions of people close to me – who seemed to know our relationship better than we did – influence how I saw my fiancee and our relationship,” she wrote.

“I feel I was misguided, and I made a decision without giving us the honest conversation we deserved.”

Akriti said she took responsibility for the decision and the hurt it had caused. She added that the couple had since spoken openly, understood each other and chosen to be together again.

“Together, we are enough for each other, and we don’t need anyone else,” she wrote, asking people to respect their decision as they begin afresh.

Prithvi Shaw and Akriti had announced their engagement in March 2026, sharing photographs of the proposal on social media. In September, Akriti announced that they had decided to part ways, citing different goals and circumstances for their future. Her latest statement marks a reversal of that decision, although the couple have not publicly detailed the circumstances that led to their separation.

Prithvi Shaw, 26, was once regarded as one of India’s brightest batting prospects. He captained India to the Under-19 World Cup title in 2018 before announcing himself at the highest level with a century on Test debut against the West Indies later that year. However, injuries, inconsistency and a prolonged absence from the national side have since interrupted his progress.

The right-handed batter moved from Mumbai to Maharashtra ahead of the 2025-26 domestic season in a bid to revive his career. He produced a standout performance in the Ranji Trophy last season, scoring 222 against Chandigarh, but remains outside India’s immediate plans.

Shaw has begun the 2026-27 domestic season with an encouraging knock. Leading Maharashtra in the absence of regular captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is on India A duty, he struck 70 off 73 balls against Services at Palam A Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday. His innings, which included eight fours and a six, provided Maharashtra with early momentum before left-arm spinner Arjun Sharma bowled him shortly before lunch.
