Days after rolling out its new Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy, the Delhi government on Friday launched an online portal that will allow residents to apply for subsidies and incentives on electric vehicle purchases and track their applications in real time.

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta launched the Delhi EV Subsidy Portal — evsubsidy.delhi.gov.in — describing it as a simple, transparent and fully digital platform aimed at ensuring that every eligible resident can access the benefits of the capital’s new EV policy.

“Now, apply for EV subsidies and other incentives from the comfort of your home, track in real-time, and receive the incentive amount directly in your account via DBT within a maximum of 60 days after verification,” Gupta said in a post on X.

According to the government, buyers of eligible electric vehicles purchased on or after July 1, can apply for subsidies through the portal. Applications must be submitted within 30 days of purchase. Once verified, the subsidy amount will be transferred directly to beneficiaries’ bank accounts through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) within a maximum of 60 days.

The portal will serve as the digital backbone of Delhi’s new EV policy, which will remain in force until March 31, 2030. Apart from processing subsidies, it will handle approvals of vehicle models, scrapping incentives and exemptions available under the policy.

Gupta urged residents to adopt electric mobility and become partners in building a cleaner, greener and pollution-free Delhi.

Transport Minister Pankaj Singh said the policy would be implemented entirely through the online platform with real-time monitoring and clearly defined timelines for approvals and payments.

The portal launch came days after the Delhi Cabinet approved a revamped EV policy aimed at accelerating the adoption of electric mobility and reducing vehicular pollution in the national capital.

Under the policy, electric cars priced up to Rs 30 lakh are exempt from road tax and registration fees. Buyers of electric two-wheelers can receive purchase incentives of up to Rs 30,000, while owners scrapping old vehicles are eligible for an additional incentive of up to Rs 10,000. Electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers will also be exempt from road tax and registration charges.

The policy also seeks to accelerate the transition of commercial transport. From January 1, 2027, only electric autorickshaws will be registered in Delhi, while registration of new petrol and CNG-powered two-wheelers will be phased out from April 1, 2028.

To support the growing EV ecosystem, the Delhi government has announced plans to expand the city’s charging infrastructure from around 9,000 charging points at present to 32,000 by 2030, Gupta told India Today TV in an interview on Thursday.

“We are ready for that,” the Chief Minister said, adding that the government had worked with original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and other stakeholders to ensure adequate charging infrastructure. “I want to assure Delhi citizens that they will not face any hurdles in charging EVs,” she further said.
