Dionne Warwick can no longer “stand or walk” due to severe pain in her leg and foot.

The 85-year-old singer had been due to perform at the Deborah Silver and Fabulous Friends: Voices for ALS charity benefit at Carnegie Hall in New York City on Sunday (11.10.26) but she had to cancel her appearance due to her mobility issues. However, Dionne is hoping she can bounce back after a period of rest.

In a statement to New York Post column PageSix, Dionne explained: “I’m sorry to have had to cancel the chance to see you all at Carnegie. My leg and foot would not allow me to stand nor walk at the moment.

“Due to the pain, I just couldn’t do anything other than cancel my appearance this time, as I focus on rest and recovering from it … Only the pain and inability to stand or walk is the reason for my absence.”

Dionne previously underwent emergency surgery on her leg last year which forced her to cancel a number of shows.

The singer explained what happened in a post on Instagram, telling fans she was rushed to hospital for an operation on the day she was supposed to be taking a flight to the UK for her performance at the Soul Town Festival in Kent.

She wrote: “The last thing I expected was to have surgery the day I was to fly to London. Pain was unbearable and my doctor rushed me into surgery thank goodness, as it could’ve resulted in something far worse.

“Hopefully we can do this festival again in the future, and I’ll be walking like a normal person. Please keep me in prayer and I’ll see you soon. Until next time, Thanks for your understanding. Luv Ya All!!!! Dionne.”

A few days later she returned to social media to write: “As most of you may know, I’ve had to cancel a few shows due to emergency leg surgery. I’m doing okay, do not worry!

“I need some show/movie recommendations while on the mend. Not Emily in Paris. Love you all.”

The Walk On By star has previously insisted she has no plans to quit music for good after she sparked retirement rumours by naming her 2022 show the She’s Back One Last Time tour.

When asked if the tour’s title meant she was considering retirement, she told UsWeekly: “No. That should never have been the title of that tour. What it meant was it’s the last time that I am going to be on the road as much.

“Everybody kept saying: ‘You’re not retiring, are you?’ Not yet. That will happen when I am not able to reach the bar that I set for myself. That’s when I take my little ballet slippers and hang them up and walk on by!”
