Disha Salian’s father, Satish Salian, has served a legal notice on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray over posts published on Thackeray’s official X account on September 16, 2026.
According to the notice, Satish Salian has objected to statements published in English and Marathi, describing them as false, malicious and defamatory. The notice concerns statements made by Thackeray in connection with the proceedings and Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of Disha Salian.

The notice raises objections to statements concerning Satish Salian’s purported political motives and personal enmity in relation to the case. Salian has demanded that the statements be withdrawn and that an apology be issued. He has also sought Rs 500 crore in compensation and damages from Thackeray.
The notice gives Thackeray seven days to comply with the demands, including withdrawing the statements, apologising and paying the compensation.
AADITYA THACKERAY DENIES KNOWING DISHA SALIAN
In posts on X on September 16, Thackeray denied having any connection with Disha Salian.
“Let’s cut through the noise and talk facts, once again: I have never met or known Disha Salian,” Thackeray said in an English post. In a Marathi post shared alongside it, he said he had neither met Salian nor had any acquaintance with her.
Thackeray accused some people of deliberately trying to link his name to the case for nearly six years, citing what he described as political motives, personal enmity and an attempt at character assassination.
He also criticised what he called a “relentless smear campaign” and said attempts to link him to the case were being made without evidence.
“Linking my name to this tragic case constantly is a deliberate, evidence-free attempt at character assassination by a few individuals with clear political and personal motives, for almost 6 years,” he said.
In his Marathi post, Thackeray said the campaign had continued despite there being “no evidence or connection whatsoever.”
THACKERAY CALLS FOR IMPARTIAL PROBE
Thackeray also criticised television debates and what he described as media trials, saying they could not change the facts of the case.
“The relentless smear campaign run by vested interests without a single shred of evidence and truth is highly unfortunate. Loud TV debates and media trials do not change the facts,” he said.
He called for the fresh investigation into Salian’s death to proceed without political interference.
“Let the official re-investigation proceed without malicious distractions and character assassination for political motives,” Thackeray said.
In his Marathi post, he called for the inquiry to be conducted without interference, political intervention or character assassination and in an impartial manner.
CBI NAMES AADITYA, UDDHAV THACKERAY FOR INVESTIGATION
The CBI has named Aaditya Thackeray and his father, former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray, among those whose roles require investigation in connection with Disha Salian’s death, according to the FIR registered following a Bombay High Court direction for a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The FIR also names actors Dino Morea and Sooraj Pancholi, along with Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty, among those whose roles require investigation in connection with the principal offences, criminal conspiracy, the subsequent creation and propagation of what the FIR describes as a false suicide story, and the suppression, destruction and/or fabrication of evidence.
Being named in the FIR for investigation does not by itself establish guilt or wrongdoing.
Disha Salian died in 2020, and the circumstances surrounding her death have continued to draw public attention, particularly because it occurred shortly before the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput.
