A major search is under way in the Top End in the Northern Territory for a man who vanished while visiting Edith Falls in Nitmiluk National Park.
Northern Territory Police are appealing for help to find Dominic O’Connell, who was last seen between 1pm and 3pm Sunday near the popular lower Plunge Pool within the national park.
Police and Parks and Wildlife NT rangers have already carried out a major search of the area but have not yet found him.
Divers were due to begin searching the water on Monday morning as crews pressed on with the operation.
Mr O’Connell was at Edith Falls with his wife when he disappeared.
Investigators believe a number of people were in and around the plunge pool at the time and are now urging anyone who was there during the two-hour window to come forward.
He is described as caucasian, about six feet tall and slim, with shoulder-length brown and white hair and a short beard.
He was last seen wearing dark blue framed prescription glasses, white shorts with a black and blue pattern, and no shirt. Police also noted he has distinctive tattoos on both shoulders.
Edith Falls remains open, but the lower Plunge Pool has been closed to the public while the search continues.
Access to that part of the area is restricted to those involved in the operation.
Anyone who has seen Mr O’Connell, knows where he may be, or was at Edith Falls between 1pm and 3pm on Sunday is being urged to contact police on 131 444.
