Unknown vandals have damaged the star of the late Dolly Parton on the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame in Los Angeles.
A woman reported on social media on Tuesday that someone had kicked away some of the candles placed there in memory of the artist and apparently scratched the name on the star with a shard of glass.
The damage was also visible in other videos and photos online.
A spokeswoman for the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce confirmed a report by TMZ.com the star was being repaired.
The work had been planned anyway, she said, because the plate set into the ground had already shown cracks. The new star is due to be unveiled on Friday.
Parton was immortalized on the Walk of Fame in 1984 alongside Sylvester Stallone, her co-star from the musical romance Rhinestone.
The country legend died on August 25 in Nashville aged 80.
Three days after her death, Parton’s family gathered for an intimate funeral at Nashville’s Woodlawn Memorial Park and Mausoleum, where she rests beside her husband Carl Dean, who died in March 2025 aged 82.
