Punjabi actor Isha Rikhi has entered the Bigg Boss 20 house at a particularly turbulent point in her personal life. Just days before the show’s premiere, Isha and rapper Badshah confirmed that they had mutually decided to part ways, ending their marriage barely five months after their intimate wedding in March this year. The couple had made their marriage public only in June, after keeping their relationship largely private.

Now, with Isha entering a house where personal histories often become prime-time conversation, the timing of her Bigg Boss debut is bound to invite questions. In an exclusive chat with India Today before her entry, Isha spoke about why she said yes to the show, whether she is mentally prepared for the challenge, her parents’ advice, dealing with her past being used against her and what viewers can expect from her.
For Isha, Bigg Boss is not about giving the audience more access to her personal life. It is about making sure they finally get to know her. “I want people to know who I am as Isha Rikhi and not by someone else’s name. People know my existence but don’t know who I am, what I am and how I am, and I want them to know every shade of Isha through this show,” she said.
As readers might know, Isha and Badshah, who had reportedly been together for nearly four years before getting married, confirmed their separation on August 31. In a joint statement, they said they had “mutually decided to part ways” and asked people to respect their privacy, adding that the statement would be their only comment on the matter.
The announcement came after weeks of speculation, including cryptic social media posts from Isha that appeared to hint at difficulties in her marriage. She later urged people not to believe unverified reports about her separation and asked the media to rely only on information shared by her or through her official social media accounts.
Isha refuses to talk about Badshah
When asked how people could assume that the Bigg Boss entry is connected to issues in her personal life, Isha declined to comment. She also refused to talk about Badshah or her divorce, stating that people will find the truth once she is on the show.
As for being prepared for the possibility that her past could become part of the game, Isha said she doesn’t have a strategy to deal with contestants who may try to trigger her, but she is clear about one thing: she won’t simply take it. “They will get a response from me in the same way they come at me. I don’t have a game plan as of now, but no one can step over me. I will never let that happen,” she added.
That “go with the flow” approach extends to how prepared she feels for the Bigg Boss experience. Isha said she is not pretending to be completely ready for the emotional and psychological pressure that comes with the show. “If you ask me if I am fully ready, then I might say not really. I think I am 80% ready, but I am a strong woman, and I know how to deal with difficult situations,” she admitted.
Her parents, too, were not particularly worried about her decision. “My mother just wanted me to be mentally prepared for everything. But she said, eventually, it’s your decision. And if you go there, get back with the trophy,” she recalled.
Isha revealed she has followed Bigg Boss over the years and has her own list of favourites. She named Ashnoor Kaur, Shehnaaz Gill and Sidharth Shukla, along with Aly Goni and Jasmin Bhasin, as contestants she enjoyed watching. And now that she is on the other side of the screen, she promises there will not be a carefully curated version of her. “I will be very real, and you can expect every emotion from me. I will try my best to play the game with full dignity.”
She also took a rather refreshingly straightforward approach to why audiences should vote for her. Rather than insisting that viewers vote for her, Isha said they should decide based on what they see. “If they feel that I am a genuine person and that I am playing well, only then should they vote for me. If they think that I don’t deserve this, then they shouldn’t. I will respect that,” she added.
Isha Rikhi’s last words before she rushed to enter the Bigg Boss 20 house were for the host, Salman Khan. “Big fan… Can’t wait to meet him,” she quipped.
