Hyderabad: A drunk man was arrested for killing a pedestrian in Telangana’s Jagtial district on Thursday evening, October 22.
The accident occurred near a Reliance petrol pump when the victim was crossing the road.
Speaking to Siasat.com, Jagtial Town Police said the accident occurred between 6 pm and 7 pm. The accused was arrested under Section 105 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
The police declined to disclose the names of the victim and the accused, stating that the case was under investigation.

In 2022, a 21-year-old drunk driver was arrested in connection with the death of a woman in September 2021. The accused, K Anil Kumar, a construction worker from Nawabpet in Vikarabad district, was 21 at the time.
He lost control of his bike and hit a motorcycle from behind near Ramanthapur village on the Shankarpally-Chevella road. The victim, 30-year-old P Laxmi, died, while her husband sustained injuries.
Kumar was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol, police said. A test detected 71 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of his blood. The Shankarpally police booked him under the Motor Vehicles Act and also charged him with culpable homicide amounting to murder.
