Eight new social housing apartments in Falcon have been completed.

The two-bedroom, one-bathroom apartments are across three buildings in a complex built by Dale Alcock Projects in the Falcon Village Precinct.

They are intended to provide modern, accessible and sustainable homes for people in need of affordable housing.

All ground floor apartments have been built to silver level Livable Housing Australia design guidelines to make them accessible and able to accommodate the changing needs of residents through different stages of life.

Environmentally sustainable features include water-wise landscaping using native plants, and water-efficient fixtures and fittings such as shower heads, tapware and toilets.

The site is close to supermarkets, specialty stores, food outlets, medical facilities and public transport connections.

The apartments were built after Housing Choices WA received a $3.49 million grant from the State Government.

Housing Choices WA is a community housing provider that manages more than 1850 properties across WA, providing homes for almost 2000 people who may otherwise struggle to access affordable and appropriate accommodation.

Dawesville MLA Lisa Munday said the project showed what could happen when the government worked with community housing providers.

Housing and Works Minister John Carey said it would ensure more people had a place to call home.

“These modern apartments will provide residents with high-quality homes close to essential services, public transport and community amenities,” he said.
