A controversial remark by Bihar Public Service Commission Examination Controller Rajesh Kumar Singh has triggered a fresh row amid ongoing protests over the 70th BPSC examination. During an interaction with the media, Singh said, “Hathi chale bazaar, kutta bhaunke hazaar” (An elephant walks through the market while a thousand dogs bark) while responding to allegations of irregularities and a purported paper leak in the examination.

The remark came at a time when students have been staging a protest at Patna’s Gardanibagh, demanding the cancellation of the 70th BPSC examination over alleged irregularities and paper leakage.
The protesters are also opposing the proposed Teacher Recruitment Examination – Fourth Phase (TRE-4) process. They have been demanding the release of the TRE-4 advertisement and have objected to the proposal to conduct the examination in two phases.
During the media interaction, Rajesh Kumar Singh was asked about allegations of irregularities and the purported paper leak in the 70th BPSC examination. He said that students who believed they had evidence supporting their claims could approach the court.
Before making the remark, Singh reportedly told media personnel to exclude his next statement from their reports. He then made the comment that has since drawn attention amid the continuing student agitation.
Students at the Gardanibagh protest site have been demanding the cancellation of the 70th BPSC examination and raising concerns over the proposed changes related to the TRE-4 recruitment process.
