A state minister is set to step down after months of scrutiny over her performance in the domestic and family violence portfolio.
Queensland Premier David Crisafulli is set to address media on Friday morning with reports that Amanda Camm, the MP for Whitsunday, will relinquish her post.
The embattled minister has been under pressure after a series of child safety portfolio failures.
Last month, new data showed the number of Queensland children known to child safety who had died had gone up almost 60 per cent in a year.
In June, it was revealed that children in state care were sleeping on mattresses in government offices.
Ms Camm returned from six weeks’ medical leave last week, having previously spoken of battling chronic migraines.
She spruiked new child safety figures saying that the number of children in residential care had stabilised.A bungled rollout of a new IT system costing $183 million left child safety officers unable to access vital information, including court orders, for at-risk children. She also came under scrutiny after it was revealed she had been in an extramarital relationship with Olympics and Paralympics minister Tim Mander.
The opposition has repeatedly called for Ms Camm to be sacked.
Ms Camm’s resignation will trigger the first reshuffle of the Crisafulli government.
