The Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) contribution provisions will come into force in specified areas of 24 districts in Madhya Pradesh from October 1, 2026, reported PTI.
The Ministry of Labour and Employment has notified the date for employers and employees in these areas to start paying contributions under the Employees’ State Insurance Act, 1948. The notification was issued on September 22, 2026.

ESIC RULES IN 24 DISTRICTS
According to the government notification, the provisions will apply across the entire areas of 24 partially implemented districts in Madhya Pradesh.
These districts are Agar Malwa, Alirajpur, Anuppur, Ashoknagar, Balaghat, Barwani, Betul, Chhatarpur, Damoh, Datia, Harda, Jhabua, Mandla, Narsinghpur, Panna, Rajgarh, Seoni, Sheopur, Shivpuri, Sidhi, Tikamgarh, Umaria, Vidisha and Dindori.
The government has also included Niwari, which was classified as a non-implemented district, in the notification.
WHAT THE NOTIFICATION SAYS
The notification has been issued under the third proviso to the First Schedule of the Code on Social Security, 2020.
From October 1, contributions from employers and employees of establishments in the specified areas will become payable under Section 29.
The notification also states that employees in these establishments will be eligible for benefits under Chapter IV relating to the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation.
This means the ESIC contribution provisions and the related benefits will extend to establishments covered by the notification in the specified areas from the appointed date.
The move marks the government’s decision to bring these areas under the relevant ESIC contribution framework from October 1, 2026.
