After being alerted, police rushed to the spot and began an investigation. Officials said packets and tablets believed to be Sulphas poison were recovered from near the body, raising questions about whether the death was linked to poisoning.
A forensic science laboratory (FSL) team also visited the scene to collect evidence and assist in the investigation. The body was later sent to Sasaram Sadar Hospital for post-mortem examination.
Police are also checking reports from nearby police station areas to determine whether any missing person complaints had been filed that could be connected to the case.
Bikramganj DSP Sindhu Shekhar Singh said preliminary inquiries suggested that the deceased may have been under stress or frustration, though the exact cause of death has not yet been established.
“The matter is being investigated from all angles. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and further action will be taken based on the findings,” the officer said.
The death has left the deceased soldier’s family and local residents shocked, while investigators await forensic and post-mortem reports to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
