Anthony Caceres is set to shrug off the disappointment of missing selection in the Socceroos’ FIFA World Cup squad by joining Thai top-flight outfit Bangkok United.
Macarthur FC last month announced that 33-year-old Caceres, who was a member of the Socceroos’ train-on World Cup contingent before being omitted from the final 26-man squad, was departing the Bulls after one just season to “seek an overseas opportunity”.
That “opportunity” will be in Thailand for the former Sydney FC midfielder and 2022 A-League All-Star representative, who had a previous spell abroad in the 2017-18 season with UAE Pro League club Al-Wasl.
Bangkok United finished fifth in last season’s Thai League One competition under the guidance of Totchtawan Sripan.
The club’s former coaches include current Melbourne City boss Aurelio Vidmar, who was in charge for nine months during 2022.Meanwhile, Brisbane Roar are poised to sign teenage prodigy Max Court from NPL NSW club APIA Leichhardt.
The 17-year-old midfielder, who also played in last year’s Australian Championship, has been described as a “super talent” by APIA football director Mario Raciti.
“He’s the best player that I’ve seen come through our club,” Raciti told NewsWire in November last year.
