Choreographer-filmmaker Farah Khan appeared to take a light-hearted dig at producer Vashu Bhagnani during a recent interaction with actor Varun Dhawan and filmmaker David Dhawan at her home. The remark comes at a time when Vashu and David Dhawan are embroiled in a legal dispute over music royalty and intellectual property rights linked to the upcoming film Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai.

The moment unfolded in Farah’s latest vlog when Varun arrived later than his father for a visit. Attempting to make up for his delayed arrival, the actor brought gifts for Farah’s house help and social media personality Dilip.
As he entered the house, Varun joked, “This is better than Trump’s house. I got something for Dilip”.
Farah immediately asked, “You didn’t get anything for me? You came late”.
Varun replied, “You are not asking why I am late”.
Sensing an opportunity for a joke, Farah responded, “Did you go to meet Vashu (Bhagnani) ji?”
Playing along, Varun said, “That’s what I went to handle.”
While the exchange was clearly made in jest, it drew attention because of the ongoing legal battle involving Vashu Bhagnani and David Dhawan.
ALL ABOUT THE CONTROVERSY
The dispute stems from Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai, starring Varun Dhawan. Vashu has filed a lawsuit against Tips Industries and associated parties, alleging unauthorised use of intellectual property connected to several of his earlier films, including Biwi No.1.
At the centre of the controversy is the recreated version of the popular song Chunari Chunari from Biwi No.1.
Vashu has argued that while Tips Industries owns the audio rights to the track, permissions relating to the film-linked intellectual property and recreation rights required his consent or involvement.
The producer had earlier addressed the issue during a virtual press conference, where he also spoke about his strained relationship with Varun following their collaboration on Coolie No. 1 in 2020.
He said, “Very honestly, after this case, there is some bitterness in all relationships. But Varun hasn’t called me in 2 years anyway. We made Coolie No. 1 in 2020, suffered a loss of Rs 27 crore, he never even bothered to ask how I was doing. If he maintains the relationship, fine. If not, that’s fine too. I lost a lot of money being with him. He is like my child, children make mistakes. Father and son, so be it”.
The comments added another layer to the ongoing dispute, which continues to generate discussion within the film industry as the legal proceedings move forward.
