A former local government executive facing fraud and drug charges has been granted bail days after police charged him with dozens of new offences.
North Fremantle man Sam Curulli, 27, was the deputy chief executive officer at the Shire of Coorow, in Western Australia’s Mid-West region, when he allegedly stole thousands of dollars from the local government.
Police allege Mr Curulli engaged in fraud, corruption and stealing during his employment as a senior public officer at the Corrow Shire between May and December 2025.
Mr Curulli was accused of using Shire expense accounts to buy electronic devices then selling them for cash.
He was also accused of pretending to be another person to try and gain thousands of dollars into his personal bank account.
Police allege after Mr Curulli’s dismissal, he allegedly went back to the shire building and stole items from a former employee valued at $3000 and unlawfully accessed social media and email accounts to send himself false messages that were used to obtain a court order.
Mr Curulli was initially arrested at a North Fremantle home in March, where police allegedly found MDMA and stolen items.
He was charged with seven offences.
On Friday, police charged Mr Curulli with dozens of new offences that allegedly occurred between March 2025 and September 2026.
He faces an additional 29 fraud offences, five drug offences, six counts of made, used or supplied ID material with intent, three stealing offences and two counts of breaching bail conditions.
He was granted bail in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday and is due to face court again next month.
