A former childcare worker facing hundreds of child exploitation offences spanning over 15 years has been hit with more charges.
NSW Police on Friday announced another 115 child exploitation charges had been laid against Hamish Tait – bringing his total to 444.
Mr Tait, 35, has been charged with producing child abuse material while working at childcare and early education centres across North West Sydney between 2009 and 2025.
The recently laden charges add to a growing rap sheet – making his case one of the most horrific alleged child abuse matters in the country’s history.
Australian Federal Police (AFP) confirmed the new charges relate to previously identified alleged victims, with no further people identified.
As of July, detectives had identified 136 alleged victims from 121 families across Sydney, with efforts to identify further potential alleged victims.
Some of the potential victims could be adults due to the age of the alleged offending.
AFP further alleged Mr Tait shared child abuse material overseas on three occasions, however assured there was no evidence to suggest he had uploaded anything to the dark web.
While most of the alleged offending occurred in NSW, police stated there was “limited offending” in another state.
Mr Tait is now additionally charged with 105 counts of producing child abuse material, one count of carrying out a sexual act with a child under 10 years of age, five counts of filming a person engaged in a private act in circumstances of aggravation, and four counts of possessing child abuse material.
He was previously charged with 162 counts of producing child abuse material, 81 counts of filming a person engaged in a private act without consent and 24 counts of using a child under 14 years for the production of child abuse material.
The 35-year-old remains in custody awaiting his matter in court.
He will next be heard in Parramatta Local Court on October 8.
