A wild crime spree across Melbourne’s southeast lasted several hours before ending in a dramatic arrest on the Monash Freeway.
The drama unfolded when a Nissan Patrol and Audi SQ5 were allegedly stolen from a property on Clonaig St at Brighton East about 5.30am on Tuesday.
Police allege the vehicles were involved in another home invasion at Hampton Park two hours later.
The vehicles fled the southeast Melbourne home but officers spotted the Nissan Patrol being driven erratically in Doveton soon after, sparking a pursuit.
The police helicopter assisted officers track the Nissan on the EastLink and Monash Freeway through multiple suburbs across Melbourne’s east and southeast for several hours.
Specialist police intercepted the stolen Nissan about midday, which shutdown outbound lanes.

Four teens, aged 16 and 17, and two men aged 19 and 20 were arrested on the freeway and taken into custody.
Police found the Audi SQ5 in Endeavour Hills.
