Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor Arvind Kejriwal on Monday demanded the dismissal and arrest of Delhi PWD Minister Parvesh Verma for allegedly slapping a young man during a road inspection in Tilak Nagar.
Kejriwal said the incident showed why “Gen Z” did not trust Verma and accused the minister of behaving inappropriately with the young man, who was recording the proceedings.

“The minister slapped a young boy. This country does not belong to your father. You cannot slap anyone like this. This country belongs to 140 crore Indians,” Kejriwal said while addressing reporters after reaching the spot in Tilak Nagar.
KEJRIWAL TARGETS PARVESH VERMA
Kejriwal said Verma had described himself as Prime Minister Narendra Modi‘s favourite and alleged that people would not accept such behaviour.
“Gen Z does not trust you at all because of such acts by you. Parvesh Verma says he is Modi ji’s favourite. I want to tell both of them, people of the country do not accept this kind of behaviour,” the former Delhi chief minister said.
A video showing Verma slapping a man was circulated on social media on Sunday. The incident took place when AAP MLA from Tilak Nagar Jarnail Singh, who was present at the site, pulled out portions of the newly laid road surface by hand and questioned its quality.
The young man was standing nearby and recording the proceedings when Verma allegedly slapped him.
DISPUTE OVER NEWLY LAID ROAD
The Public Works Department (PWD) is carrying out road repair work on the Outer Ring Road stretch from Janakpuri District Centre Chowk to Najafgarh Drain, where the incident took place.
Kejriwal alleged that the road had been damaged despite being newly laid and claimed there had been corruption in the construction work.
“This is a new road and it is already damaged. We had not seen such roads before in Delhi. We were also in government for 10 years. It is clear there has been corruption in construction of this work and should be investigated,” he said.
Kejriwal demanded that Verma be removed from his post immediately and investigated over the alleged corruption.

Verma, meanwhile, hit back at the AAP and said he would not tolerate attempts by its “goons” to obstruct government work.
“I warn you… you remember me, right?” Verma said on Monday, directly addressing Kejriwal.
He also disputed the description of the man as a member of Gen Z, alleging that he had an FIR against him for assaulting an MCD official three months ago and had been arrested.
“That person is not any Gen-Z. He is a goon who has an FIR registered against him for assaulting an MCD official three months back. He was arrested also,” the Delhi minister said.
Following the incident, the PWD also filed a formal complaint at Tilak Nagar police station against AAP MLA Jarnail Singh, alleging that he obstructed officials from carrying out their duties.
