Hours before ramming a woman biker with his car in Gurugram, accused driver Kalyan Bainsla was returning from a club with three friends after partying through the night, with all four drunk at the time, according to sources in the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
When the hit-and-run incident took place on Sunday on the Golf Course Road, Bainsla, 33, was driving a Maruti Suzuki Ciaz while his cousin Lavnish, 34, was seated on the front seat. The two are currently in jail.

The SIT found that Bainsla, a gym owner, first encountered Sia near the Sector 53 Metro station. After an altercation, he began chasing her motorcycle on being instigated by Lavnish.
He chased her for at least 2 km at high speed before the car hit her motorcycle.
The collision was captured on an action camera mounted on Sia’s superbike. The footage subsequently went viral on social media, triggering widespread outrage against rash driving and the safety of women bikers.
Gurugram Police have served notices to the other two men who were travelling in the vehicle. Their statements will be recorded by the SIT, following which a decision on their arrest will be taken, the sources said.
Blood and urine samples of Bainsla have been sent for testing, and the reports are awaited.
Bainsla and Lavnish were arrested in Rajasthan on Tuesday.
Police said that after his arrest, Bainsla tried to escape custody on the pretext of urinating, but fell and was injured. He was later given first aid at a hospital.
Meanwhile, Sia has called for the arrest of the two other men as well, saying that if they weren’t punished, then “such incidents will continue to happen.”
