The player at the heart of the concussion waiver scandal has revealed himself while breaking silence claiming speculation forced him to “to address this personally”.

Geelong defender Jake Kolodjashnij had a statement released on his behalf by the club on Friday evening, just hours after Cats CEO Steve Hocking fronted the media.

“While I appreciate the efforts made not to identify me, the speculation has left me feeling I needed to address this personally,” the Cats defender said.

“I participated fully in the AFL’s independent concussion panel process, respected its independence, and was comfortable with the outcome. I have continued playing AFL football since.

“What disappoints me most is that my private medical information has been made public. “Everyone deserves the right to keep their confidential medical information private.

“I want to thank my family, the AFLPA, my manager, my teammates and the football club for their support over the past 24 hours.

“I am healthy, feeling good, and focused on playing my role for the team for the remainder of the season.”

The defender has only ever played for Geelong, racking up 209 appearances for the hoops since his debut in 2015.

He played an integral role in the Geelong’s 2022 premiership campaign.

The defender has played 11 games for the Cat’s AFL side this year, most recently appearing against GWS last month.

He featured for Geelong’s VFL side just last Friday.
