Writer-director Curry Barker’s Obsession has been breaking all box office records with the collection standing over $148 M (Rs 1400 crore and more). In an exclusive chat with India Today, Barker spoke about how the psychological horror originally featured a different ending for Nikki, played by Inde Navarrette, but her performance led the team to reconsider the character’s fate.
Speaking to us, Curry Barker, the filmmaker, shared that an earlier version of the script had a much darker ending planned for the character. “Originally, there was an ending where her character decides to end it all, and that was what we were going to do,” Barker revealed.

However, the ending changed after Inde Navarrette delivered a performance that left a lasting impression on the cast and crew. “I want to brag about Indy really quick,” her co-star Michael Johnston said, adding, “What ended up happening was she did such an amazing job with the take where she survives at the end.”
According to Barker, the team only filmed that version once. “We only gave her one of those takes, and it was so fantastic. Everyone on set was silent, and we were like, ‘Holy’,” he recalled.
Navarrette, who was present during the conversation, responded with a laugh as Barker praised her work on the scene.
