A 35-year-old woman was stabbed to death at a wholesale cloth shop in Hyderabad’s Azampura on Saturday night, with police suspecting that a fallout in her relationship with a former employee of the store may have led to the killing.

The incident took place around 9.40 pm at Manha Wholesale Cloth Store, located beside Sahifa Masjid in Azampura, within the limits of Chaderghat police station. The victim, Tahera Bhanu, a resident of Chanchalguda, was working at the shop when Mohd Ibrahim, who had previously worked there, arrived and attacked her with a sharp knife, according to preliminary police information.

Bhanu was rushed to a hospital after the attack, but doctors declared her dead. Ibrahim was apprehended and is currently in police custody.

RELATIONSHIP FALLOUT SUSPECTED AS MOTIVE

According to preliminary information provided by the accused, he and Bhanu had been in a relationship for several years. He told investigators that she had recently begun distancing herself from him, which led to resentment.

Police suspect that the reported fallout may have prompted the attack. However, the motive is yet to be conclusively established, and the circumstances leading to the murder remain under investigation.

Ibrahim is married and has two children. He is a resident of Moin Bagh, which falls under the jurisdiction of Santoshnagar police station in Hyderabad.

ACCUSED SHIFTED TO MALAKPET POLICE STATION

Following his arrest, Ibrahim was shifted to Malakpet police station as a precautionary measure to ensure his safety and facilitate further action, according to the police report.

The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the killing, including the nature of the relationship between the victim and the accused and whether its reported breakdown was the trigger for the attack.

The relationship fallout remains a suspected motive based on preliminary information and will be verified as the investigation progresses.
