A 23-year-old BTech graduate who could not secure a campus placement has shared how he eventually cleared the SSC CGL examination in his first attempt and landed a central government job in Delhi. The graduate, who completed his BTech from IIIT Delhi, said he struggled with campus recruitment and found interviews and professional networking platforms such as LinkedIn uncomfortable.
His experience later took a different direction when he decided to prepare for the Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level examination. The graduate shared his experience through posts and replies on Reddit.

FROM CAMPUS PLACEMENT TO SSC CGL PREPARATION
After failing to secure a campus job, the graduate decided to focus on government recruitment. According to details shared in his Reddit posts, he prepared for the SSC CGL examination for around eight to 10 months.
He eventually appeared for SSC CGL 2025 and cleared the examination in his first attempt. Following the selection process, he secured a Level 7 position as an Assistant Section Officer in the Central Secretariat Service.
He is currently posted in Delhi, according to the details shared publicly by him.
GRADUATE SHARES RS 83,216 SALARY CREDIT
The graduate later posted a screenshot showing a salary credit of Rs 83,216 in his bank account. The amount initially described as his first government salary was later clarified by him as his second salary.
He said he joined his post on July 29. He received salary for two days on August 25, followed by his full August salary on September 2.
According to his explanation, the salary amount included allowances applicable to his Delhi posting, including house rent and transport-related allowances.
HIS STORY GETS ATTENTION FROM SSC ASPIRANTS
The graduate’s posts attracted attention from other SSC aspirants, who asked him about his preparation strategy, study resources and experience of clearing the examination.
His journey has particularly drawn interest because he moved from an unsuccessful campus placement experience to a government position after preparing for a competitive examination. He has also indicated that he plans to share more details about his preparation and the resources he used.
