Moving abroad often comes with a long list of adjustments, from adapting to a new work culture to navigating unfamiliar customs. But for one Indian techie living in Denmark, it is something far simpler that continues to leave him amazed: the amount of daylight during summer.
Nick Bisht, an IT professional recently shared a video on Instagram showcasing a phenomenon that many people outside northern Europe find hard to imagine. The clip, which has garnered significant attention online, shows that even at 9 pm, the Danish sky remains remarkably bright, looking more like late afternoon than nighttime.

“This Is What 9 PM Looks Like in Denmark,” Bisht wrote while sharing the video. Alongside the clip, he also told his followers that he would soon share “detailed roadmaps” on how to build a successful IT career and how to move abroad for work.
The video begins with a text overlay that reads, “One thing that still surprises me in Denmark. It’s almost 9 pm and it looks like late afternoon.”
Bisht then appears on camera and explains how the extended daylight affects his daily routine. To convince himself that it is actually time to wind down for the day, he often has to keep the curtains in his home tightly shut.
At first glance, the room looks exactly as one would expect at night. Heavy curtains block out the light, a lamp illuminates the space, and the atmosphere feels calm and evening-like. However, the illusion lasts only a few seconds.
When Bisht pulls back the curtains, the room is suddenly flooded with bright daylight. Outside, the sky appears nowhere near sunset, creating a striking contrast that has fascinated viewers online.

The video resonated with many social media users, particularly those unfamiliar with life in northern Europe, where summer days can stretch far into the evening due to the region’s proximity to the Arctic Circle. Several viewers shared their own experiences of adjusting to unusually long daylight hours, while others expressed amazement at how bright it remained so late in the day.
While discussions about life abroad often focus on salaries, career opportunities, or workplace culture, Bisht’s video offered a refreshing glimpse into one of the everyday surprises that comes with living in Denmark.
