A packed national news schedule on Sunday includes protests linked to the anti-CEC campaign, political developments and party briefings, along with key hearings in the Supreme Court and developments in the National Capital Region.
Across the states, the focus will range from Navratri-related events and political activity in Uttar Pradesh to civic polls in Gujarat, students’ union election updates in Odisha, the opening of Mysuru Dasara in Karnataka and the Prime Minister’s events in Tamil Nadu.

On the legal front, a special Supreme Court bench is scheduled to hear pleas seeking initiation of contempt proceedings against authorities for the alleged blatant violation of the court’s direction to ensure there is no complete prohibition on metro and train services. Supreme Court judge Justice J B Pardiwala is also set to speak at the valedictory session of the national consultation at the top court to review the implementation of the Juvenile Justice Act. In NCR, stories are expected around the CJP protest, while AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal is scheduled to hold a press conference.
In the North, the first day of Sharadiya Navratri is expected to draw a sea of devotees outside temples in Uttar Pradesh, with Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath scheduled to offer prayers at a Devi temple in Balrampur and perform rituals at the Gorakhnath Mutt in Gorakhpur. On Jai Prakash Narayan’s birth anniversary, heavy security and barricading are in place outside the JP International Centre in Lucknow, while Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav is expected to take a swipe at the BJP government. In Babu Patti, villagers are hopeful Amitabh Bachchan will fulfil his promise of a functional library after recently mentioning his ancestral village on Kaun Banega Crorepati. Ayodhya is also in focus as the BJP and the SP trade barbs after Adityanath said he was ready to contest the 2027 Uttar Pradesh poll from the temple town if Akhilesh Yadav does the same.
Elsewhere in the region, Haryana Chief Minister Saini is scheduled to pay obeisance at the Mata Mansa Devi temple in Panchkula on the first day of Navratri, and a state cabinet meeting is due in Chandigarh. In Punjab, Pargat Singh is set to take charge as the state Congress chief in Chandigarh, with Sachin Pilot expected to attend. Rajasthan will see Navratri-related coverage, while Jaipur’s Jhalana and Amagarh leopard safaris remain in focus as frequent leopard sightings continue to draw more tourists and push up visitor numbers. In Uttarakhand, the Kumaon administration is preparing to implement a plan to decongest roads around Kainchi Dham.
In the West, Goa unit members of the CJP are set to hold a protest in Panaji at 4.30 pm, demanding the resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar. Polling is under way in the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation elections and in the Okha and Thara municipalities in Gujarat. In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav is scheduled to inaugurate the government’s Sandipani School in Narsinghpur district at 11.30 am, while Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai will chair a state cabinet meeting in Raipur at 12 pm. In Maharashtra, the last rites of CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke’s grandmother are to be held in Hingoli.
In the East, Odisha is expected to see updates on students’ union elections and weather-related developments. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma is scheduled to distribute appointment letters to recruits from different departments at 2 pm. Jharkhand is expected to generate an interview with the Atomic Energy Commission chairman, while political developments in West Bengal and pre-Puja stories are also on the day’s agenda.
In the South, Karnataka will mark the inauguration of the 11-day Mysuru Dasara festival, while Tamil Nadu will see events involving the Prime Minister.
Overall, Sunday’s schedule spans protests, politics, court proceedings, festival-related events, elections and administrative meetings, with developments expected from the Supreme Court, the NCR and several states across the country.
