Actor-producer Jackky Bhagnani has denied reports claiming that PVR INOX Pictures is preparing to initiate legal proceedings against veteran filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani and his banner, Pooja Entertainment. The clarification came after reports suggested that PVR INOX Pictures and Pooja Entertainment were involved in a financial dispute linked to a three-film agreement.

On June 1, Jackky shared a statement on social media, calling the reports “entirely inaccurate” and urged media platforms not to circulate unverified information. His statement also said PVR INOX Pictures had issued an official clarification and that the professional relationship between the two sides remained cordial.

What Jackky said

A part of Jackky’s statement read, “Over the decades, Pooja Entertainment has built a relationship with the media rooted in mutual respect, transparency, and a shared love for Indian cinema. We are incredibly grateful for the continuous support you have extended to our team throughout our journey.”

The statement further said, “Recently, reports have circulated regarding alleged legal proceedings between PVR INOX Pictures and Pooja Entertainment. We wish to clarify that these reports are entirely inaccurate. PVR INOX Pictures has graciously issued an official clarification confirming that these claims do not reflect the reality of our strong professional bond.” It also expressed concern over the impact of unverified reports on the company’s reputation and stakeholders.

The statement further said that the repeated sharing of unverified reports is adversely affecting stakeholders and damaging the goodwill Pooja Entertainment built over the years.

The production house maintained that its relationship with PVR INOX Pictures remains cordial and that reports of any legal confrontation are unfounded.

About the row

The reports had claimed that PVR INOX Pictures had entered into a deal with Pooja Entertainment for the release of Mission Raniganj, Ganapath and Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. It was also claimed that the cinema giant had paid a refundable advance of Rs 100 crore to the production house, with an understanding that any outstanding balance would be returned if the films failed to generate the expected returns.

What PVR INOX said

On May 31, PVR INOX Pictures also issued a statement denying the online chatter. The statement read, “We’ve noted a recent media report about us and Mr Vashu Bhagnani. The story is misleading and speculative – and does not reflect the facts or the nature of the relationship between the parties. PVR INOX Pictures and the Bhagnani family share a longstanding, cordial professional relationship built on years of collaboration and mutual respect.”

They also highlighted their professional relationship with Jackky. “We also wish to appreciate Jackky Bhagnani’s professionalism in all dealings between our companies – his commitment to carrying forward Vashu Ji’s legacy has always been evident,” the statement added.

This clarification came at a time when Vashu Bhagnani has been making headlines for initiating legal action against the makers of Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai over the alleged unauthorised use of the songs Chunnari Chunnari and Ishq Sona Hai from Biwi No.1.
