Jamie Lynn Spears’ daughter hopes to become a pediatrician following her horror All Terrain Vehicle (ATV) accident at the age of eight.
In 2017, Maddie Briann Aldridge was airlifted to hospital after a Polaris RZR 170 she was driving flipped into a pond on her family’s property in Fluker, Louisiana, and left her close to drowning.
She was in a coma for two days, and a priest was called to administer last rites before she made a “miraculous” recovery.
Now, 18, Maddie does not remember the accident, but she hopes to use the experience to help children in the future.
Maddie begins her health sciences studies at the University of Southern Mississippi in August and hopes to then attend medical school and become a pediatrician.
She told the new issue of PEOPLE magazine: “Hopefully I’ll end up going to medical school and end up being a pediatrician. That’s what I really want to do.”
Actress-and-singer Jamie Lynn, who has Maddie with her 37-year-old ex-partner, Casey Aldridge, believes their daughter will make a “great pediatrician”, adding: “My daughter’s a doctor! It’s really cool. She’s giving me something to brag about.”
Maddie’s family are “beyond blessed” that she recovered.
And she thinks her family’s faith “got a lot stronger” from the accident, adding: “Such a negative experience affected us positively.”
In August 2025, Maddie joked she is “very accident-prone” nine years after the near-fatal accident as she opened up about it for the first time.
In a YouTube video that explored her childhood injuries and illnesses, she said: “I did have an accident, though. I was in a coma, and I came back to life, and I’m very blessed.
“So yeah, I’ve just been very accident-prone. I swear my parents are amazing, and they did not do anything to me!”
The then-teenager noted that early in her life, she was “in and out of hospital” undergoing “treatments all the time” for a range of health issues.
She added: “I was very sick when I was really little. I had bad asthma.”
Jamie Lynn and Watson got married in 2014, and they welcomed their daughter, Ivey, into the world four years later.
