Global superstar Jason Derulo was Ridin’ Solo as he arrived in Perth on Tuesday ahead of his sold-out blockbuster concert at RAC Arena on Wednesday.
The Talk Dirty singer is gearing up for the penultimate gig on the Australian leg of his The Last Dance tour, following performances in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
Derulo arrived at Perth Airport in head-to-toe Nike gear, donning a Los Angeles Lakers cap in a bid to Wiggle through the terminal incognito.
Wednesday’s highly anticipated show is the first in Perth for three years for the 37-year-old, who last performed here when he headlined Fridayz Live alongside Kelly Rowland, Flo Rida and Boyz II Men. Derulo spent a significant amount of time here that year, having starred as a coach on The Voice Australia.
A constant of the 2010s R&B scene, Derulo dominated the charts in the decade after he rose to fame in 2009 with hits like Swalla, Want To Want Me and Trumpets.
Alongside his musical career he has developed a huge audience on social media for his dance videos, boasting more than 66 million followers on TikTok and 44 million on Instagram. During his tour so far the renowned showman has earned praise from concertgoers for his high-energy performances
Josh Fawaz, the Australian DJ who rose to national prominence after his remix of Madonna’s Like A Prayer charted in Australia until he revealed it was “completely AI”, is slated to open for Derulo tonight.
Fawaz’s confession forced Australian Recording Industry Association to ban AI songs from the charts.
