Jelly Roll has insisted Donald Trump should be “able to handle a few jokes”.
The 41-year-old country singer has come under fire after claiming Donald Trump could follow in his footsteps by losing some weight and being able to “see [his] penis again” during a guest host appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
Responding to the backlash on the late night show, Jelly teased: “Let’s be honest for a second – any US president should be able to handle a few jokes, right?
“They should also be able to handle gas prices, healthcare and the occasional international conflict, but beggars can’t be choosers.”
The Need A Favor hitmaker, whose real name is Jason DeFord, described his previous comments as “the weirdest thing I’ve ever done to stun people”, noting he’s a “former felon” and ex “drug dealer who has lost 300 pounds”, as well as someone with “tattoos all over his face”.
He added: “What a turn of events: Who would have guessed I’d get in more trouble with the president than Rosie O’Donnell?”
During his opening monologue earlier this week, Jelly referenced the US President’s weight gain.
He said: “After his last physical, we found out that Trump gained 14 pounds, which means he’s now tipping the scales at almost 240.
“It’s crazy. Think about this, y’all: In the last few years I’ve lost 300 pounds — that means I’ve lost an entire Donald Trump… Most of the country wants to do the same thing.”
Jelly then had a message just for the president.
He added: “From one fat pig to another, take it from me that physical fitness is very important. Trust me, you’ll be happy to see your penis again.”
Earlier this year, Jelly’s ex-wife Bunnie Xo – who he divorced this summer after almost a decade of marriage – declared the star’s penis had gotten “severely bigger” since he lost weight.
Speaking on The Howard Stern Show in February, the Dumb Blonde podcaster said: “I will tell you that it is very true that when a man loses weight, it grows a lot…
“He deserves to have a hot streak.
“He’s getting his confidence back and he’s peacocking around. He’s got a little strut in his step, and I think it’s just the cutest thing.”
