Jelly Roll’s wife has compared her marriage to the country music star to a “10 year bid” in prison in a new podcast clip.
The 41-year-old country music star – whose real name is Jason Bradley DeFord – shocked fans when he filed for divorce from wife Bunnie XO, 46, last week.
Now a new clip from Bunnie’s Dumb Blonde podcast has seen her jokingly draw comparisons between a lengthy stint behind bars and her union.
In the video, Bunnie read out one of the DMs she’d received from a hopeful trying to strike up a romance with her in the wake of the split.
The message read: “Hey pretty lady, I’m about to get out of prison on a 10 year bid next year. Please let me go out and have a time with you.
“That’s all I ask. I promise it will be worth it. Hit me back.”
While Bunnie quipped that she doesn’t “mind that the dude’s in prison”, it was another phrase he’d written that she took issue with.
She explained: “What I don’t like is he said, ‘let me go out and have a time with you’… So you’re just expecting me to put out on this first date?”
Her podcast co-host Meme Shahan then joked: “I mean after 10 years he might need it!”
To which Bunnie replied: “I mean, same! I just got out of a 10-year bid too b******, what are we talking about.”
Laughing, Bunnie insisted she was joking and “just cutting the rug”, but added she was expecting to “get a phone call” after the podcast episode was released.
Bunnie and Jelly met in 2015, with Bunnie saying later in the podcast episode that her ex is still her “best friend”, stressing that she remains committed to supporting him and their family, including his daughter Bailee and son Noah.
She said: “My family was always so important to me. And, when I said those vows with him, I really meant them.
“You know, Jay was my third marriage. And obviously, I’m not f****** good at marriage. F****** three strikes, you’re out, b****.”
Reflecting on the relationship she and Jelly built together, Bunnie said: “Listen. I can admit when I’m not good at something, you know? And marriage just probably isn’t it.
“But, you know, my husband and I built a f****** empire together.”
She added: “We saved each other and we put each other on the path that we did together. But he was the catalyst for me becoming the woman that I am today. And for that, I will always be (grateful.)”
