Two planes have been pictured within metres of each other at Sydney Airport with the near-miss leaving a cabin crew member injured.
The incident involved two aircraft, a Qatar flight and Jetstar flight JQ402 from Sydney to the Gold Coast which was taxiing out from its bay at Sydney Airport on Sunday morning.
A Jetstar spokesperson said that crew were “following instructions by Air Traffic Control when the pilots were forced to brake firmly after another aircraft came in close proximity”.
A cabin crew member moving through the cabin was injured and had to be treated by paramedics.
No passengers were injured.
The return flight has been cancelled and customers will be rebooked onto later services to the Gold Coast.
NSW Premier Chris Minns said that he is “concerned” about the incident.
“Obviously [we are] concerned, not just the safety risks, but we want to to make sure that the airport is operating at full capacity,”
“That’s hugely important for our economy,” he said.
Jetstar said that “nothing matters more to us than the safety of our customers and crew”.
“Our captain acted quickly and decisively, exactly as our crew are trained to do.”
An investigation into the incident has been launched.
