A five-year-old boy died after choking on a plastic toy ball that was found inside a Kurkure packet in Karnataka’s Mysuru district, police said.
The incident took place in Karnataka’s Gauripura village, where the child is believed to have swallowed the complimentary plastic ball while playing. According to police sources, the ball became lodged in his throat, causing him to suffocate.

Family members rushed the child for medical assistance, but he could not be saved.
The incident has left the family and residents of the village in mourning. The boy was the only child of his parents and belonged to a well-known family in the village.
Police sources told India Today that the plastic ball had come as a complimentary item with the Kurkure packet and that the child accidentally swallowed it while playing.
However, the police clarified that the family has not lodged any complaint regarding the incident. As a result, no Unnatural Death Report (UDR) has been registered, and no criminal case has been initiated so far.
Authorities said they are in touch with the family and that further action will depend on whether a formal complaint is filed.
