Kelly Osbourne “started drinking again” after her father Ozzy’s death.
The 41-year-old star, who had been sober for more than four years, found herself at “ground zero” as she struggled following the death of the Black Sabbath legend in July 2025 aged 76.
Discussing the aftermath of Ozzy dying, she told Paul C Brunson’s We Need To Talk podcast: “I was a shell of myself. I couldn’t speak. I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t do anything.
“I was just empty. Broken in every way a human being could possibly be broken and completely unable to even take care of myself.
“I was at ground zero. I started drinking again. I lost my mind. I couldn’t handle it.”
However, Kelly revealed that since the dark period, she has regained her sobriety.
She added: “I can honestly say today I’m eight months sober. I have the most incredible people around me.
“I closed my circle because I lost a lot of friends because people don’t like sadness and they expected me to be over it.
“I will never be over it. I will never ever be over it.”
Kelly – who has three-year-old son Sidney with her ex, former Slipknot star Sid Wilson – has been open about her personal struggles over the years.
Back in 2024, she said becoming a mother put her firmly on the right track.
She told Us Weekly: “I truly believe my baby saved me and made me a whole human … You realise in that one second, ‘You’ve given me purpose like nothing has ever given me before’.
“I don’t think I had purpose. I went from thing to thing to thing, and this level of self-hate and self-doubt that I used to have would just take me out.”
Kelly went on to reveal she still struggles with her sobriety when she has a bad day, but she is finding different ways to cope when she’s feeling down.
She explained: “It’s a rocky road for me. Most days are great, but every now and then, I’ll get one really bad day where it’s hard to pull myself out.
“My natural habitual instinct is to numb myself because then I don’t have to feel the pain and I don’t have to feel unworthy. I can just hibernate.
“But you can’t do that when you have a baby. You absolutely cannot. Finding other ways of getting through those hard days can be difficult sometimes.”
