Lil Wayne has apologised after being a no-show at his own concert.
The 43-year-old rapper was set to kick off the extension of his 20 Years of Carter Classic tour, which follows a hit 2025 run on the road, but he snubbed the opening show in Bangor, Maine earlier this week.
Taking to his Instagram Stories on Wednesday (01.07.26), the day after the gig, he wrote: ““My Maine fans I’m so sorry… The show is being rescheduled to July 28.
“Please hold on to your tickets, they will be honored for the rescheduled date.
“I ain’t s*** without you I can’t wait to come back and give you the show you deserve.”
He added that further information would be emailed out to ticket holders.
At the show on Tuesday (30.06.26), rapper 2 Chainz performed an opening set at the Maine Savings Amphitheater.
The crowd were left waiting for a while before they found out at 11pm that Lil Wayne wouldn’t be appeared after all, and the show ended there and then.
There was no official explanation given.
One attendee, Rita Sack, described the night as “the most terrible experience”.
She told local station Wabi: “Well, I came here for Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz, and it was the most terrible experience. We drove over six hours to be here.”
The Nova Scotia resident insisted that they would have expected Lil Wayne to at least step out on stage to apologise to the fans himself.
She added: “We paid for Lil Wayne. Like, the least you can do is come out for a minute, apologize, you know?
“Like, just take the moment and be like, hey guys, sorry, not feeling it, feeling a little sick.”
She noted that it wasn’t about “the money”, but rather respect for his fans.
Rita said: “It’s like, moments in life and that was going to be a moment. [My friend] left her six-month baby for the first time.
“Like, it’s people’s time. Just don’t waste people’s time.”
However, another fan, Makayla Sullivan, insisted she was still “ride or die” for Lil Wayne.
After travelling from Rhode Island, Makayla – who has the rapper’s face tattooed on her side, joked to the outlet: “I’m going to see him in New Hampshire on Friday. Maybe he’ll show up!”
