Hello and welcome back to ABC Sport’s live blog coverage of the 2026 AFL season. We’re heading to the MCG on this fine Friday evening for a clash between a couple of the traditional big dogs, albeit two teams in the midst of very different seasons.
Geelong are riding high, their victory over Sydney last week confirming their status once again as one of the most serious players in the premiership race. Meanwhile Carlton have rallied after weeks of turmoil, winning on their last two starts after the sacking of Michael Voss.
Interim coach Josh Fraser is getting a tune out of the Blues, but the Cats at the ‘G is a far more challenging proposition. Still, they will be out to force an upset against a Cats side very much expecting to bank the four points.
